The Walker Building

Concord, NH

Meridian Construction completely renovated the Walker Building on the New Hampshire State Hospital Campus. This historically significant building has approximately 110,000 square feet of renovated office space and 40,000 square feet of basement space. Additionally, the existing slate roof was removed, with new slate subsequently installed.

The work was comprehensive. It included general construction, excavation, backfill, grading & paving, new footings, steel framing, new masonry, repair of existing masonry, architectural metal stairs and railings, gypsum board systems at interior walls, clad wood windows, interior finishes, acoustic ceilings, casework & trim, elevators, machinery, extensive fire protection systems, and all electrical systems.

The building is now energy efficient with motion-controlled illumination systems, heat ventilation and modern air conditioning systems. It’s also fully wired for high speed communications and data. The Walker Building has been transformed from a formerly defunct property into a valuable commercial building asset in the City of Concord.
