Prior to this build, our work was a varied mix of commercial, municipal, and residential projects. The home pictured above became the catalyst for us to develop our specialty in luxury lake house construction, in addition to state and municipal projects.

Digging the Challenges

We quickly discovered that homes of this nature require as much or even more engineering, environmental, permitting, mechanical, and structural considerations as do many commercial projects. And beyond all that, these distinctive home projects showcase the best of artistic architecture and artisan craftsmanship. Kyle’s journey with Meridian began during his youth. He joined field crews in his early teens, learning the business from the ground up. A graduate of the Architecture/Engineering program at NHTI Concord and holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from UNH, Kyle continued to advance within the company through grit and determination. Starting as an intern, he quickly rose through the ranks to become Assistant Project Manager, then Project Manager by 2015. Over the last ten years, Kyle continually and linearly took on more responsibility beyond the role of project management, and became more involved in operations, sales, new talent acquisition, and more.

As Vice President, Kyle will continue to take on top-level responsibilities including strategic planning, managing construction teams and large-scale projects, fostering strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational efficiency and business growth.

“His role requires deep construction expertise, strong leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to manage complex, large-scale projects from inception to completion,” said Tim Long, President of Meridian Construction. “After 32 years of leading a great company, it’s time to share the spotlight and set a plan for the future. A native of Laconia, NH, Luke earned his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2005. Soon after graduation, he returned to the Lakes Region and began his professional career with Meridian Construction as an Assistant Project Manager. By 2008, Luke had been promoted to full Project Manager and has continued to take on larger, more complex responsibilities, most recently serving as both PM and Estimator before his elevation to the executive team.

In his new role, Luke will lead all preconstruction efforts and oversee the project management teams and systems at Meridian. This includes setting strategic goals, controlling budgets and schedules, negotiating contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and aligning field execution with Meridian’s long-term business strategy.

“I’m so proud of Luke’s well-earned advancement,” said Tim Long, President of Meridian Construction. “I saw Luke’s great potential 20 years ago, and he has eagerly accepted every new responsibility, often exceeding expectations. He’s become a respected leader in the company and throughout the New Hampshire construction industry.”

Luke expressed his gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead.

UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), more commonly known as drones, have become one of the most important technologies used on construction sites. 3D Printing

Saint Thomas Aquinas High School Phase 1 Renovations Completed in 10 Weeks

Gilford, New Hampshire – November 1, 2022:  Meridian Construction is serving as construction manager for major building renovations at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover, NH. With the first phase completed in time for the 2022-2023 school year, additional construction work is scheduled for the gymnasium and two new additions over the next 2 years.

Accelerated Timeline

When the school session ended in June of this year, Meridian Construction went to work and renovated 80,000 square feet of interior space. In only 10 weeks and before school resumed, the newly renovated interior was ready. Students were welcomed back to freshly upgraded, safer and more energy-efficient athletic spaces, locker rooms, hallways, bathrooms and classroom facilities.

Renovations included:

• Demolition and abatement of HazMat
• New life safety sprinkler systems throughout half of the school
• New acoustical ceilings
• New flooring
• Electrostatic painting of Hallway lockers
• Modern LED Lighting replaced throughout
• New signage installed and painted
• 8 fully renovated student bathrooms
• Girls locker room renovation
• New stair treads installed on 5 stairways

During a recent project debriefing, Meridian’s president, Tim Long stated, “We are truly honored to have earned the trust and confidence of the St. Thomas Aquinas Board, their leadership and staff, and of course, the architects at Oak Point Associates. The success of phase 1 is a testament of what a true partnership looks like when everyone pulls together, when we communicate often and push to the goal line. And we did this despite labor shortages and supply chain problems. I’m proud of this team for applying the Meridian ‘never-give-up’ mentality which we always strive to instill throughout our company.”

The next phase planned for summer 2023 will include completing the upgraded sprinkler systems throughout, installing new life safety systems (fire alarms and misc. safety upgrades), and completely renovating the gymnasium. A third phase includes a new building addition and a new freestanding chapel. The plan also includes new access control systems, new windows and exterior work throughout the school.
