Classic Lake Winnipesaukee Family Home

Alton, New Hampshire

With family ties to Lake Winnipesaukee spanning more than a century, the owners wanted to transform this lake front property into a comfortable, sophisticated retreat their family could continue enjoying for generations. Working closely with the designers and project team, Meridian completed an extensive three-phase renovation to preserve the family legacy. Major improvements included opening interior spaces, removing load-bearing columns, expanding windows and outdoor access to take better advantage of the lake views, creating new garden-level living space, and constructing a new boathouse.

Remarkably, the work was carefully scheduled so the family never had to give up a summer at the lake. The finished home combines warm Northern European-inspired interiors with the relaxed character of Lake Winnipesaukee living. Fine millwork, natural stone and white oak details throughout reflect the craftsmanship and careful execution that turned a substantial renovation into a true multigenerational legacy home.
